The Hungarian parliament has stripped the immunity of Prime Minister Peter Magyar, who is accused of theft.

Operativ Media reports, citing foreign media, that lawmakers voted by a majority to approve the prosecution's motion to strip the head of government of his immunity, paving the way for a criminal case to be launched against him.

According to reports, a criminal case will be opened against him in connection with the theft of a phone.

Notably, in June 2024, Magyar snatched a mobile phone from a person who was filming him in a nightclub and threw it into the Danube River.
