Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister has called on Ukraine to prevent drone attacks on Kazakh vessels.

Operativ Media reports that Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi said this in a statement to Ulysmedia.kz after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

"First of all, we spoke with the Ukrainian side about the need to prevent future drone attacks on our vessels in the Black Sea," Tleuberdi said.

The Kazakh Foreign Minister noted that he held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of several countries in New York, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Andrii Sybiha.

Tleuberdi stated that during the meetings, the parties discussed bilateral relations against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan has previously condemned drone attacks on the country's oil export infrastructure. Astana stated that these attacks endanger civilian shipping, disrupt international trade, and pose a threat to the stability of energy supplies.

The consortium's infrastructure in the Black Sea was subjected to drone attacks several times in 2025 and 2026.
