British Member of Parliament Jeremy Corbyn has stated that Manchester City must face severe punishment following the ruling that the club violated Premier League financial rules.

Operativ Media reports that Corbyn believes the club should be hit with a massive points deduction that would result in relegation from the Premier League. He also proposed a heavy fine, with the proceeds directed toward the development of grassroots football.

According to Corbyn, the Premier League should also seriously investigate stripping Manchester City of its titles. He stated that it is questionable for the club to retain titles believed to have been won as a result of financial rule breaches.

On September 25, reports emerged that an independent commission had found Manchester City guilty of 114 out of 115 charges related to breaching Premier League financial rules. Specific sanctions against the club have not yet been determined. Manchester City has stated that the process is ongoing and is expected to appeal the decision.
