The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has presented the Team of the Tournament for the 2026 World Cup.

​Operativ Media reports that this was announced on the organization's official website. Vozinha, the goalkeeper for the Cape Verde national team—one of the tournament's main surprises—was included in the symbolic lineup.

​In defense are Marc Cucurella, Pedro Porro (both Spain), Dayot Upamecano (France), and Lisandro Martínez (Argentina). Jude Bellingham (England), Rodri (Spain), and Michael Olise (France) were selected for the midfield positions. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi (Argentina), Erling Haaland (Norway), and Kylian Mbappé (France) were selected for the attack line.

​The 2026 World Cup made history as the first tournament to feature 48 teams instead of 32. The new format adopted by FIFA expanded the geography of participating countries and brought the total number of matches to 104, adding an extra 40 games to the schedule. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the possibility of expanding the number of teams to 64 in the future is also being considered.

​As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup champion was the Spanish national team. Facing Argentina in the final match, the Spaniards secured victory thanks to a single goal scored in the second half of extra time by 26-year-old Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, following a 0-0 draw in regular time.
