Brazil and Santos forward Neymar has announced his retirement from international football.

Operativ Media reports that the 34-year-old player declared his chapter with the national team has come to an end. Quoted by publication Actu Foot, the forward emphasized that he gave everything for the team, but no longer wishes to represent his country on the pitch.

Neymar scored Brazil's only goal in their 2-1 defeat against Norway in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.

Having made his senior debut in 2010, the experienced forward scored 80 goals and provided 59 assists in 130 official appearances, making him the highest-scoring player in Brazil's history. During his international career, Neymar won the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013 and captained Brazil to an Olympic gold medal in 2016.
