Former Supreme Court Chief Justice András Baka Elected New President of Hungary

Hungary's National Assembly (unicameral parliament) has elected former Supreme Court Chief Justice András Baka as the new head of state.

Operativ Media reports, citing the newspaper Nepszava.

It was noted that his candidacy was put forward by the ruling Tisza party. 

During a secret ballot, 140 lawmakers voted in favor and six voted against. The publication wrote that Baka will assume office on August 19.
