On August 10, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Mindaugas Sinkevicius made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

During the telephone conversation, the positive dynamics observed in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania in recent times were noted with satisfaction. In this regard, the visit of former Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginiene to Azerbaijan in April this year and her discussions with President Ilham Aliyev were recalled.

The Azerbaijani head of state congratulated Mindaugas Sinkevicius on his election as Prime Minister.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, Mindaugas Sinkevicius stated that as Prime Minister he would keep the development of bilateral relations in constant focus.

During the phone call, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania in the energy sector, particularly ensuring energy security, as well as increasing trade turnover, were discussed.

The Lithuanian Prime Minister conveyed his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the anniversary of the Washington Peace Summit and the agreements reached there.

The Azerbaijani head of state expressed his gratitude for the congratulations.

The phone call also addressed Azerbaijan-European Union relations, with both sides noting that recent high-level contacts have contributed significantly to the development of cooperation. It was emphasized that Lithuania consistently supports the expansion of Azerbaijan's cooperation with the European Union.

The President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Lithuania also exchanged views on the current international situation.
