Bulgaria's CSKA Sofia advanced to the next round of the UEFA Europa League second qualifying stage after defeating Qarabag on penalties following a 0-0 second-leg draw at home (5-4 on penalties).

Operativ Media reports, citing QOL.az, that the Sofia side's head coach, Hristo Yanev, shared his thoughts at the post-match press conference.

He emphasized that the victory was the result of tactical preparation rather than pure emotion:

"This isn't just about motivation; it's about the team's tactical discipline. I congratulate my coaching staff. We worked very hard to analyze our opponent and play against them properly. I don't know if people realize what a massive club we just eliminated."

The 47-year-old manager highlighted the importance of fan support:

"We need the fans' support, and I thank them. On the opposing side was a head coach with 17 years of experience and a team that defeated Benfica and drew with Chelsea last season."

Yanev stressed his belief in the team's ongoing work:

"We wanted to show that the work we are doing is not so bad. All I have left is faith. Sometimes I lose it and doubt whether we can handle this situation, but I am not hopeless. I know what I am capable of."

The CSKA head coach affirmed his determination to keep pushing forward:

"I am working hard for this team to play in Europe. We expend a lot of energy. We want to show the club owner what this squad is capable of. I will not change. I will never change. I am used to fighting."

Yanev also touched on their prospects of reaching the main stage of the competition: "Today we proved that we are a very valuable team. If fortune is on our side and we keep playing like this, why shouldn't we reach the main stage of the Europa League?"
