Valdas Dambrauskas: Level of Competition in Champions League Is Completely Different

Azerbaijan's representative Sabah played its Matchday 4 fixture in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League today. The Azerbaijani champion visited Viking in Norway, with the match ending in a 1-4 defeat for Sabah.

Operativ Media reports that Sabah head coach Valdas Dambrauskas shared his thoughts on the match at the post-game press conference:

“Every match in the Champions League presents its own challenges. We came to Norway with thorough preparation. In the first half, there was an even contest on the pitch, and both teams managed to capitalize on the scoring chances they created. After the break, the game opened up more. The opponent showed superiority, especially in one-on-one duels. At this level, it is essential to adapt to the speed and tempo of the game.

Unfortunately, the goals we conceded ultimately led to our defeat. However, despite being down a man, we fought well on the pitch. As I mentioned before, the level of competition in the Champions League is completely different. In matches like this, even the smallest mistake can result in a goal.”
