Harry Kane becomes first Bundesliga player to win Ballon d'Or since 1996

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has become the first player competing in the German Bundesliga to win the Ballon d'Or since 1996.

Operativ Media reports that the award ceremony was held in London on October 26. Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe finished second in the voting, while Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal came in third.

The last Bundesliga representative to claim the award was Borussia Dortmund's Matthias Sammer, who won the Ballon d'Or in 1996.

In total, players competing in the German championship have won the Ballon d'Or seven times.
