Ministry: Indigenous ethnic Azerbaijanis in Iran deprived of right to education in native language
1 min read

"As a result of the policies pursued by Iran, there is not even a single school in that country (Iran) teaching in the Azerbaijani language."

This was stated in a statement issued by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Operativ Media reports.

It was noted that instruction in the Azerbaijani language is not conducted in higher education institutions either:

"However, indigenous ethnic Azerbaijanis make up approximately 40 million of Iran's population, and for decades they have been deprived of the right to receive an education in their native language.

Instead of interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, it would be better for Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology and others speaking on this topic in Iran to address these very issues and take measures to end this unprecedented injustice that has continued for decades."
