Foreign Ministry: We welcome Lana Zaki Nusseibeh's candidacy for UN Secretary-General

"We welcome the initiative to nominate Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations."

Operativ Media reports that Aykhan Hajizada, spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this in response to a media query regarding the nomination of UAE Minister of State Lana Zaki Nusseibeh for the position of UN Secretary-General.

"Azerbaijan emphasizes the importance of a selection process guided by the UN Charter, based on candidates' professional qualities, diplomatic experience, impartiality, and ability to build consensus among member states.

We hope this process will culminate in an outcome that contributes to building a stronger, more effective United Nations capable of responding flexibly to modern challenges," Hajizada noted.
