Como Equals 55-Year Record

Italian club Como achieved a rare feat in European competition history by thrashing French side Lens 9-1 in France in Round 4 of the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Operativ Media reports that Como became only the second team since 1971 to score nine goals in an away match in European football history.

The only previous team to achieve this milestone was Dutch side Feyenoord, who defeated Cyprus's Olympiakos Nicosia 9-0 in September 1971.

Meanwhile, Lens set an unwanted record with their 9-1 defeat. The French outfit became the first club from Europe's top five leagues to concede nine goals at home in a single European match.
