Jeyhun Bayramov: We are ready to supply gas to Ukraine if necessary
Economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine remains a vital pillar of bilateral relations.
Operativ Media reports citing AZERTAC that Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha.
"Speaking of energy cooperation, I would first like to note that SOCAR, Azerbaijan's state oil company, has been operating in the Ukrainian market for many years. SOCAR continues its active operations in Ukraine, and we believe the company has major plans for the future," Bayramov added.
The minister noted that delegations and counterparts from both nations have engaged in a highly dynamic dialogue regarding new momentum and additional avenues for cooperation in the energy sector.
Bayramov highlighted that Azerbaijan currently exports natural gas to 16 countries worldwide, including 12 European nations, 10 of which are European Union member states.
"If the need arises, we would be pleased to supply gas to friendly Ukraine as well. At the same time, opportunities exist for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine to enhance energy security across a broader geographic region," Bayramov added.
