Spanish footballer dies after injury sustained during match

Spanish club Tenerife player Jesus de Miguel has died in hospital following an injury sustained during a match against Andorra.

Operativ Media reports that the club announced the footballer's death on its social media accounts.

The incident occurred on Monday in the final minutes of the match against Andorra. The striker collided with opposing goalkeeper Jesus Owono while challenging for the ball.

The player received immediate medical attention on the pitch and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Initially kept under observation, his neurological condition reportedly deteriorated later.

The match was stopped in the 108th minute due to the incident.
