Dynamo Kyiv striker Matviy Ponomarenko has shared his impressions following his side's 1-0 victory over Qarabag in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round.

​Operativ Media reports that the forward, who netted the solitary goal of the match, acknowledged that despite the win, his team made mistakes during the game.

​Ponomarenko stressed that they needed to maintain greater ball possession and will focus on improving in that area for upcoming matches. He emphasized their determination to secure a positive result in the second leg in Baku to advance to the next round.

​Commenting on his goal, the striker explained that after regaining possession in the center of the pitch, he spotted an opportunity for a quick counterattack and sent the ball into the net following a challenge by teammate Justin Lonwijk. Expressing satisfaction at ending his goal drought, Ponomarenko voiced hope that he would continue scoring in future games.

​He also recounted his post-match conversation with Igor Kostyuk, noting that the coach congratulated him on scoring the winning goal and expressed his gratitude for his performance on the pitch.
