Kazakhstan has completed a key milestone in one of its largest telecommunications projects by finishing the subsea laying of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line across the bed of the Caspian Sea.

Operativ Media reports that this was announced by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the ministry, the underwater cable successfully reached the Kazakh coast, marking the completion of the most complex phase of the project jointly implemented by Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International.

"The new Aktau–Sumgayit route will connect the digital infrastructure of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, creating a direct, high-speed data transmission corridor between Asia and Europe. The project will enhance the reliability of international telecommunications and boost the transit capacity of both countries," the statement said.
