The Media and Broadcast Council has been established in Azerbaijan.

This is reflected in a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on the application of amendments to the laws "On Civil Service" and "On Media," Operativ Media reports.

The Media and Broadcast Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan serves as the legal successor to the Audiovisual Council, assuming all of its rights, obligations, and property.

Under the decree, the staff ceiling for the new council is set at 108 positions.

The decree also approved the organizational structure of the Media and Broadcast Council.

Furthermore, the Media Development Agency public legal entity has been abolished, with its rights, obligations, and property transferred to the Media and Broadcast Council.

The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to transfer state property on the balance sheets of the Audiovisual Council and the Media Development Agency to the new council within one month, secure funding for its operations within the current budget allocations for both entities, and provide the council with administrative premises. Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers must take measures to staff the council using personnel from the two dissolved entities.
