The death toll from a fire on a passenger ferry off the coast of the Philippines' Palawan province has risen from 35 to 76.

Operativ Media reports that Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Noemi Cayabyab announced this at a briefing.

According to the information, the bodies of 41 more people were found on the vessel during the search and rescue operation.

There were 134 people on board the ferry, including 117 passengers and 17 crew members.
