Volume of natural gas exported by Azerbaijan revealed
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov addressed the 8th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held in Moscow.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Energy to Operativ Media, the minister conveyed greetings and congratulations from President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the summit participants.
Speaking about Azerbaijan's energy policy, the minister highlighted the strategic importance of the Southern Gas Corridor, realized under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, in terms of new supply routes, market diversification, and long-term partnerships.
It was noted that Azerbaijan, which has been exporting gas for nearly 20 years, has expanded its supply geography in the European market over the past six years, gaining access to Central Europe as well as the Middle East.
Currently supplying gas to 16 countries, Azerbaijan ranks among the world leaders in terms of the geographical reach of pipeline gas exports. To date, 131 billion cubic meters of gas have been exported to Türkiye, over 66 billion to Europe, more than 37 billion to Georgia, and 1.7 billion cubic meters to Syria.
The minister stated that Azerbaijan is pursuing a policy based on aligning energy security with environmental responsibility. The position of the Azerbaijani President regarding the importance of complementing commitment to the "green transition" with a pragmatic approach to energy realities was emphasized. It was noted that by developing natural gas and renewable energy sources in parallel, Azerbaijan is strengthening its domestic energy supply and generating additional resources for export.
In conclusion, Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening cooperation within the GECF framework and developing mutually beneficial energy partnerships was reaffirmed.
