Filming of movie starring Jackie Chan wraps up in Baku
Filming for the Azerbaijan scenes of the movie "Armour of God 4: Ultimatum" has successfully concluded, marking the largest foreign film production project ever realized in the country.
Operativ Media reports that this was announced by the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Attracting foreign filmmakers is a key priority set by the President of Azerbaijan for the country's film industry. One of the main goals of the presidential decree signed on May 29, 2025, "On Certain Issues Regarding the Production of Cinematographic and Other Audiovisual Works in the Territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan," was to bring foreign film producers to the country. This included introducing various mechanisms, notably a cash rebate system to reimburse a portion of production expenses incurred by foreign filmmakers.
Extensive work has been carried out over the past year to implement the decree. The Azerbaijan Film Commission, established by the Ministry of Culture to promote filmmaking across the country, showcased these new opportunities to international filmmakers, and the initial results are now evident.
A coordinated effort led by the Ministry of Culture involving various state bodies—including the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, and other entities, totaling 26 official agencies—played a crucial role in supporting the film crew during the shoot in Azerbaijan.
The smooth and successful completion of the production will help position Azerbaijan as an attractive destination for future international film projects, drawing increased attention from the global film industry.
Hosting major global projects also delivers tangible benefits to the local film industry. More than 200 local professionals and dozens of local companies were involved in the production of "Armour of God 4: Ultimatum," helping domestic film crews gain valuable experience and fostering international collaboration.
Shooting global blockbusters in the country is also highly effective for promoting Azerbaijan internationally and boosting its tourism potential. Once the movie hits the screens, tens of millions of Jackie Chan fans around the world, especially in Southeast Asia, will be encouraged to discover Azerbaijan as a new travel destination.
Following the conclusion of filming in Azerbaijan, Jackie Chan met with representatives from the government agencies and companies that supported the production. The actor personally thanked all the institutions for their assistance and presented commemorative gifts.
