The 130th anniversary of the birth of prominent Azerbaijani statesman and scholar Aziz Aliyev will be celebrated.

Operativ Media reports that President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to this effect.

"January 2027 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of Aziz Mammadkarim oglu Aliyev, a prominent Azerbaijani statesman and scholar, healthcare organizer, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Professor.

As a true patriotic intellectual committed to high principles and humanist ideals, Aziz Aliyev lived an honorable life and was a rare personality who set a stellar example of public service for future generations. While serving in diverse responsible posts, he worked effectively toward state-building and improving governance with deep national commitment. Aziz Aliyev played an exceptional role in rebuilding Azerbaijan's healthcare system on new foundations, shaping medical education in line with contemporary standards, and training qualified national specialists. During the Second World War, he successfully led a number of crucial efforts of major military and political significance. At pivotal moments in Azerbaijan's history, he enriched the school of public governance through decisive steps regarding the nation's critical issues. His dedication and contributions to strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and Dagestan made his name a true symbol of friendship and brotherhood between our peoples.

Guided by Item 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in recognition of his special contributions to the people of Azerbaijan, to ensure the worthy commemoration of the 130th anniversary of statesman and scholar Professor Aziz Aliyev, I decree:

1. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, shall develop and implement an action plan regarding the 130th anniversary of prominent statesman and scholar Aziz Aliyev.

2. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall resolve issues arising from this Order," the document states.
