Implementation of comprehensive measures to develop health tourism (medical and wellness) is getting underway in Azerbaijan.

Operativ Media reports that under the "State Program for Tourism Development for 2026–2030," the current situation in the sector will be analyzed, and a health tourism development strategy and action plan will be prepared and implemented.

The document envisages refining the regulatory legal acts on the accreditation of medical institutions with a focus on medical tourism. The state will also provide support to medical tourism providers preparing for international accreditation and certification.

The program additionally plans the organization of various local and international events to ensure the sustainable development of health tourism.
