Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci, who is in Kazakhstan for the 3rd meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), has met with his Kazakh counterpart Yerzhan Sadenov.

The meeting focused on further strengthening cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries. In particular, the sides discussed the fight against transnational crime and cybercrime, search operations, migration security, personnel training, and direct cooperation between relevant departments.

Following the meeting, the ministers signed a readmission agreement (an agreement on the return of persons residing without authorization – Ed.) between Kazakhstan and Turkey.

Sadenov said that Kazakhstan and Turkey are bound by brotherly relations and a high level of mutual trust, which is reflected in the cooperation between the agencies of the two countries.

He noted that the signed agreement is another step toward strengthening cooperation, highlighting the importance of security cooperation between the two nations.

The parties agreed to improve direct communication between the ministries, increase the exchange of experience, and strengthen joint work on current security issues in the coming period. The readmission agreement aims to strengthen the legal framework for migration cooperation between the two countries and establish procedures for the return of persons who do not have a legal basis to stay in their territories.
