Atletico forward Julian Alvarez will miss the La Liga Matchday 5 match against Real Sociedad due to an injury.

Operativ Media reports that the Madrid club's press service announced the Argentine player was injured during training.

The 26-year-old Alvarez cut short Saturday's training session due to discomfort. The player was diagnosed with a muscle strain.

Alvarez will undergo further medical examinations in the coming days, after which his recovery timeline will be determined.

The Atletico vs. Real Sociedad match will take place on September 13.
