Lithuania will establish an integrated system to combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) entering the country's airspace by the end of 2027.

Operativ Media reports that Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas said this in an interview with the Politika.lt portal.

According to the minister, work is underway on the project, which will integrate various tools for airspace surveillance and drone neutralization into a single system.

The project is officially scheduled for completion at the end of 2027. However, the Lithuanian side is striving to have the system ready by the middle of next year.

According to the plan of the Lithuanian military and the Ministry of Defense, the new system must ensure the rapid detection of aerial targets, swift decision-making, and the initiation of countermeasures to neutralize drones.

Robertas Kaunas also stated that the project requires significant financial resources, noting that the costs will run into the billions.
