For the first time in its history, Latvia will assume the presidency of the UN Security Council for a one-month term.

Operativ Media reports, citing Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Throughout November, Latvia will preside over all formal and informal meetings of the UN Security Council.

Latvia's Ambassador to the UN, Sanita Pavlyuta-Deslandes, emphasized that the main goal of the country's foreign policy apparatus is to strengthen the republic's security. She noted that the UN Security Council serves as one of the instruments to achieve this objective.
