President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter to President of the United States of America Donald Trump.

"Dear Mr. President,

One year has passed since the historic Washington Summit hosted by the United States on August 8, 2025, which laid the foundation for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

One year ago, by undertaking a historic mission, you created a turning point in establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus and normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Thanks to your determination and unwavering resolve, you succeeded in completely bringing an end to the three-decade-long conflict, laying the foundation for an era of reconciliation and mutual partnership for our nations.

The trilateral Joint Declaration signed at the White House under your witness, the Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Inter-State Relations initialed between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the joint appeal regarding the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group played a decisive role in ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region, opening a bright chapter for future sustainable development and mutual cooperation. At the same time, one of the crucial results of your peacebuilding efforts—the TRIPP project—is of great importance in terms of multilateral economic cooperation, transport connectivity development, and ensuring security in the South Caucasus. I express my deep gratitude to you once again for your strong leadership in promoting the region's peace agenda.

Today, Azerbaijani society is adapting to living in the new reality and peaceful environment that has taken shape in the region. Over the past year, important work has been carried out regarding the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Restrictions on freight transit to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan were lifted, and exports of Azerbaijani petroleum products, as well as grain and other goods from third countries, began reaching Armenia via our country's territory. We are witnessing the real economic, commercial, and other benefits of peace, and we continue our efforts to further reinforce them, translate them into practical action, and build an environment of mutual trust.

Dear Mr. President,

The meeting held in Washington last August is also of great historical significance for Azerbaijan-U.S. bilateral relations. It was precisely as a result of that meeting that our inter-state relations entered a qualitatively new stage of strategic partnership. Six months later, Vice President J.D. Vance's visit to Azerbaijan and the signing during the visit of the Strategic Partnership Charter—covering mutual investment, trade, energy, connectivity, transport, artificial intelligence, and security—as well as the high-level contacts and agreements reached over the past year, demonstrate the successful path we have covered in a short period and the importance you attach to the development of Azerbaijan-U.S. relations.

At the same time, we view your decision to extend the waiver of the discriminatory Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act as an important step toward restoring historical justice.

We can proudly say that today's level of Azerbaijan-U.S. relations stands at the highest peak in the 34-year history of our diplomatic ties. On behalf of myself and the entire people of Azerbaijan, I once again express my gratitude to you for this great achievement, including your invaluable service in establishing and deepening our strategic partnership.

We remain determined to further expand and enrich with new content the strategic partnership and relations between Azerbaijan and the U.S., which are based on friendship, mutual trust, respect, and support. We look forward to working together with you in this direction.
