As a result of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 and the local anti-terror measures carried out in September 2023, Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This brought an end to the status quo that had persisted for many years as a result of the occupation and paved the way for the emergence of an entirely new political and legal reality in the region. Operativ Media reports.

The Washington Peace Summit held on August 8 last year marked a historic milestone, as the de facto achievements secured on the military front were formally confirmed de jure at the political and diplomatic level. The Prime Minister of Armenia participated in parliamentary elections on the basis of the key points outlined in Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, which was advanced through President Ilham Aliyev’s peace initiatives, and secured victory, subsequently forming the Armenian government for a third time.

It is precisely due to the peace efforts and strategic vision of the Azerbaijani Leader that Armenia and Azerbaijan, once opposing sides in the conflict, no longer regard each other as enemies. Instead, the two sides increasingly view one another as potential partners for the future.
