President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a phone conversation with President of the United States Donald Trump on August 8.

Operativ Media reports, The Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan released information on the call.

During the conversation, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the anniversary of the Washington Summit. They emphasized that the summit, the Joint Declaration signed with the witness of US President Donald Trump, and the initialing of the agreement establishing interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia had effectively brought an end to the conflict and solidified peace in the region.

President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to Donald Trump for hosting the Washington peace summit and for his contributions to the peace agenda.

Donald Trump commended President Ilham Aliyev's role in the peace process.

It was noted with satisfaction that peace and stability have been maintained in the region over the past year, with no incidents occurring that could disrupt peace.

Positive developments were highlighted, including the export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia, the transit of cargo through Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the establishment of direct trade relations between the two countries.

The leaders stressed the importance of the TRIPP project for regional connectivity, noting that transport infrastructure work on Azerbaijani territory is nearing completion.

They expressed hope that work on the TRIPP project on Armenian territory will commence soon.

The heads of state also discussed issues on the bilateral agenda.

The signing of the strategic partnership document between Azerbaijan and the United States was described as a historic event, emphasizing that bilateral relations have reached a qualitatively new, strategic level that contributes to peace and stability across the wider region.

President Aliyev thanked the US President for the invitation to the G20, viewing it as a manifestation of goodwill toward Azerbaijan.

Confidence was expressed during the call that the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the US will continue to develop successfully.
