Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, accompanied by Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, have arrived in the city of Khankendi as part of a visit to Karabakh and East Zangezur.

Operativ Media reports that 150 people representing 58 countries and 9 international organizations are participating in the visit.

The diplomatic corps representatives inspected the new railway and bus station complex in Khankendi.

The construction of two railway platforms and 12 bus stops is planned on the territory of the five-story complex. The new complex is located 4 kilometers from the city center. This infrastructure is expected to provide Khankendi residents with more convenient access to public transport in the future.

The diplomatic corps representatives were informed that the Aghdam–Khankendi railway line is an extension of the Barda–Aghdam railway and is 28 kilometers long. It is planned to establish Asgaran and Khojaly stations, the Khankendi railway and bus station complex, as well as other necessary infrastructure along the line. Design work for the railway line has been completed, and the project is scheduled for implementation in 2025–2026.

During the two-day visit, the diplomats will also visit Shusha, Aghdara, and Kalbajar, in addition to Khankendi. They will familiarize themselves on-site with the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories, new social and economic infrastructure projects, as well as measures taken to protect and restore historical and cultural heritage.
