AFE requests postponement of La Liga matchday 12
The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) has appealed to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to postpone matchday 12 of La Liga following the death of Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel.
Operativ Media reports that in a statement released on social media, the AFE said players unanimously requested that this round of matches not be played following discussions. The statement noted that the players' emotional and psychological condition in the wake of the tragedy does not allow them to compete as normal.
The incident occurred on November 2 during a Spanish second-division home match against Andorra. During the match, Jesús de Miguel collided with opposing goalkeeper Jesús Owono and subsequently suffered cardiac arrest.
After receiving initial medical attention, the player was taken to the hospital, where he passed away on November 3.
The 30-year-old Jesús de Miguel had been playing for Tenerife since the summer of 2025.
