Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov visited Bulgaria on November 5–6.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry told Operativ Media about the visit.

During the visit, the sixth round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria took place in Sofia. The delegations were led by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivanka Tasheva.

The political consultations featured extensive discussions on the current state and development prospects of strategic partnership relations between the two countries, focusing on cooperation in political, economic, energy—including green energy corridors—and transport and logistics fields, among others.

The sides held an in-depth exchange of views on diversifying trade turnover and encouraging mutual investment. The meeting emphasized the importance of continued mutual support and coordination within international organizations.

In addition, opportunities for expanding ties in humanitarian, cultural, scientific, and educational spheres were reviewed, with both sides highlighting that cooperation in these areas is an essential component of bilateral relations.

During the visit, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Tchamova received Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov. Issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov also met with Rusi Ivanov, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. The meeting involved an exchange of views on expanding bilateral ties and the prospects for developing cooperation.

The Azerbaijani delegation subsequently met at the National Assembly of Bulgaria with members of the Bulgaria-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and its chairman, Hamid Hamid, as well as members of the Foreign Policy Committee and its deputy chairman, Slavi Vasilev. The discussions underscored the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy, the intensification of contacts between legislative bodies, and the crucial role of inter-parliamentary relations in advancing bilateral ties.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a lecture to trainees at the Diplomatic Institute of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry and members of the Student Diplomatic Club at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
