Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has held an expanded meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, as part of an official visit to Ukraine.

Operativ Media reports that the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced the meeting on its X social media account.

The ministers reviewed the progress made in implementing agreements reached between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Azerbaijan–Ukraine strategic partnership, including cooperation in trade, energy, investments, transport, humanitarian affairs, and multilateral platforms, as well as regional and international security issues.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts and highlighted the role of bilateral mechanisms—such as political consultations, the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, and the Business Council—in further expanding bilateral relations.

The foreign ministers also exchanged views on recent developments in the region amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and current challenges on the global agenda.

Jeyhun Bayramov reiterated the necessity of ceasing military operations as soon as possible and resolving the conflict through diplomatic means in strict compliance with the norms and principles of international law. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan's consistent support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed his deep condolences over the deaths and injuries of Azerbaijani citizens resulting from ongoing military operations in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.

The ministers also commended Azerbaijan's humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, which exceeds $50 million, along with reconstruction projects carried out in the city of Irpin and rehabilitation programs for Ukrainian children.

Bayramov also briefed his Ukrainian counterpart on the current situation in the South Caucasus, as well as the ongoing restoration and reconstruction work in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
