Vučić: "Our relations with Azerbaijan are based on mutual trust"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has met with the outgoing Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia, Kamil Khasiyev, whose diplomatic mission in the country has come to an end.
Operativ Media reports that details of the meeting were shared on the Serbian President's official social media page.
According to the post, the meeting highlighted the significant work done to strengthen bilateral ties and deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Aleksandar Vucic noted that political dialogue has intensified in recent years, leading to major progress in the fields of the economy, energy, and transport infrastructure.
The Serbian head of state emphasized that the climate of mutual trust between him and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has provided a powerful impetus to expanding cooperation:
"I expressed my gratitude to Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Serbia Kamil Khasiyev for his personal contribution to strengthening close relations and strategic partnership between our countries during his diplomatic tenure.
We reviewed the results achieved in recent years, particularly the intensive political dialogue, strong economic ties, and progress in energy and transport infrastructure. We discussed projects that bring us closer together, paving the way for increased trade turnover and new investments. I emphasized that the trust established between President Ilham Aliyev and myself gives special momentum to the further development of comprehensive cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
Serbia highly appreciates Azerbaijan's consistent and principled support for our sovereignty and territorial integrity. We do not forget this position, because lasting and reliable relations are built precisely on mutual respect and adherence to international law."
