Phone call between Ilham Aliyev and Donald Trump lasted over 40 minutes
A phone call on August 8 between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump lasted more than 40 minutes.
Operativ Media reports, citing 1news.az, that the call was initiated by Donald Trump and coincided with the first anniversary of the Washington Peace Summit held on August 8, 2025.
According to available information, the conversation between the leaders of Azerbaijan and the US took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
As previously reported by the official website of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the call, Ilham Aliyev and Donald Trump discussed the outcomes of the past year since the Washington summit, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the implementation of the TRIPP project, and the development of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.
It was particularly noted that peace and stability have been maintained in the region over the past year, with no incidents occurring that could damage the peace process.
The parties also positively assessed the export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia, the transit of cargo through Azerbaijani territory, and the launch of trade relations between the two countries.
