Michael Carrick: Sabah is a very difficult team to face
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has shared his thoughts on their victory over Sabah in the first round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
Operativ Media reports that the English specialist first assessed his team's performance in a statement to TNT Sports:
“Of course, it is nice to keep a clean sheet and get the win. There were many positives. I think some of our attackers performed fantastically. Some of the football we played was really very good. We were dangerous on the transition and, for the most part, defended very well.”
Speaking highly of the Azerbaijani club, the manager said: “Congratulations to Sabah. They are a very difficult team to play against. They are a very tough opponent to face. They build combinations with short passes and make you work very hard to win the ball back. The scoreline looks comfortable, but the game was not always like that. I think we did a lot of good things tonight, which got us a good result.
Kobbie Mainoo is a fantastic player, which is quite easy to see. Playing a bit deeper, he links up the attacks, starts them, and has a huge impact on our play. It is a real pleasure to have him in the team. He wants to learn, develop, and listen, while also expressing himself on the pitch. It is very pleasing to see.”
