At the insistence of the United States, Austrian authorities have denied entry to Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

According to the report, the United Nations (UN) had requested a temporary suspension of sanctions against Eslami to allow him to enter Austria and speak at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conference.

However, the US insisted that the restrictions imposed on the Iranian official not be lifted. As a result, Eslami was reportedly denied entry to Austria. Consequently, Iran will be represented at the conference by a lower-ranking official.

Bloomberg writes that US Energy Secretary Chris Wright plans to speak at the meeting and warn Tehran of the need to cooperate with the IAEA and completely abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

According to the report, Wright will emphasize US leadership in the development of nuclear technologies in his speech, stating that these technologies meet the highest international standards of safety, security, and non-proliferation.

The 70th session of the IAEA General Conference will be held in Vienna, Austria, from September 14 to 18.
