Kazakh scientists develop quantum model for oil production

Scientists at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University have combined physics-informed neural networks with quantum computing.

Operativ Media reports, citing the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.

The developed model is designed to calculate and optimize oil production processes.

According to the report, various technological methods are used in oil production, including water flooding and reservoir pressure maintenance. To maximize their effectiveness, it is necessary to accurately model the physical processes occurring in the reservoir and optimally manage production parameters.

It was noted that traditional modeling methods require complex multi-parameter calculations. Therefore, expanding computational capabilities remains a pressing scientific challenge in the oil and gas industry.

According to the researchers, this approach can increase computational efficiency and help optimize oil production parameters. The model will also allow for more accurate forecasting of processes in oil fields and more effective production decision-making.
