Jeyhun Bayramov attends 13th meeting of OTS Council of Foreign Ministers - UPDATED
At the end of his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude to the member and observer states, the Secretary General, and the Secretariat of the Organization for their support and active participation during Azerbaijan's chairmanship. He expressed confidence that cooperation will continue during Türkiye's upcoming chairmanship and wished the Turkish side success.
It was noted that the OTS+ format established at the Gabala Summit creates new opportunities for cooperation with third countries and international organizations. The importance of efficiently utilizing existing mechanisms in the future, ensuring the implementation of adopted decisions, and strengthening the activities of national bodies as well as the monitoring and coordination role of the Organization's Secretariat was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the holding of four informal meetings among foreign ministers in 2026 as an important indicator of the continuity of political dialogue and the coordination of positions on regional and international issues. As examples, it was noted that the Joint Statement adopted at the Istanbul meeting regarding the situation in the Middle East expressed solidarity amid threats to the security of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, while the New York meeting emphasized the importance of continuing joint diplomatic efforts toward securing observer status for the Organization at the UN General Assembly. The initiation of the practice of circulating OTS joint statements as official documents of the UN General Assembly and Security Council was also noted.
It was pointed out that humanitarian cooperation, the preservation of shared historical and cultural heritage, and the strengthening of ties between our peoples were also among the main priorities during Azerbaijan's chairmanship. In this context, the significance of holding the Turkic World Week dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turcology Congress, the first meeting of heads of state bodies responsible for religious affairs in Shusha, and the 7th meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of OTS Member States in Baku was highlighted.
Strengthening political dialogue and coordination among national bodies in the field of security, holding the meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils of OTS member states in Baku, and adopting the 2027 Roadmap providing for joint production and technological cooperation in the defense industry were highlighted as key results of Azerbaijan's chairmanship. At the same time, the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investments, transport, energy, finance, digital development, innovation, and new technologies was noted.
Work carried out during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the OTS following the 2025 Summit in Gabala to strengthen political solidarity, enhance institutional effectiveness, expand economic and transport ties, and raise the international prestige of the OTS was brought to attention. In this context, it was noted that numerous meetings and consultations at various levels were held in close cooperation with member and observer states, as well as with the Organization's Secretariat.
Under these circumstances, he emphasized the importance of cooperation based on mutual trust, shared interests, and solidarity.
The minister stated that existing contradictions in the system of international relations, ongoing conflicts, double standards in the application of norms and principles of international law, and the difficulties faced by international institutions in preventing crises create new challenges for states.
In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov first warmly congratulated the brotherly Turkish people and state on October 29 – Republic Day.
