Trump Wants to Run for President for a Third Time

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he would like to run for a third term in the presidential election if the law permitted it.

Operativ Media reports that he made the remarks during an interview on the New York Post's "Pod Force One" podcast. Trump emphasized that the requirements of the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits a president from serving more than two terms, are quite strict.

The leader of the White House recalled that there are still two years left until the end of his presidential term, noting that much can be accomplished during this period.

Under the law, Donald Trump's second presidential term is scheduled to end in January 2029. The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1951, limits a president to being elected no more than twice. Despite this, Trump has repeatedly raised the possibility of running for a third term.

Donald Trump was elected president for a second time after defeating Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris in the November 2024 presidential election. He first served as U.S. president from 2017 to 2021.
