Spanish club Barcelona is interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

​The Catalan club has held preliminary talks with representatives of the 30-year-old Spanish international. Rodri is reportedly open to a potential move to Barcelona, believing the team's playing style would make for a smooth adaptation.

​Barcelona's primary motivation for pursuing the experienced midfielder is Frenkie de Jong's long-term injury. However, to complete the transfer and improve its financial position, the club will need to part ways with one or more players.

​Real Madrid was also previously reported to have held talks regarding a potential move for the player.

​Rodri was named the best player of the 2026 World Cup, which was won by Spain. Having played for Manchester City since 2019, he has scored 28 goals and provided 32 assists in 298 appearances for the club.
