First Central Asia–Azerbaijan Summit Set for Oct. 8 in Turkmenistan

The inaugural summit in the "Central Asia – Azerbaijan" format will take place in Turkmenistan on October 8.

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced the event during an informal meeting of the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Central Asian nations, Operativ Media reports.

According to Berdimuhamedov, a draft agenda for the first summit has already been prepared and distributed to all participating countries.

He noted that the draft encompasses five key areas of cooperation.

"We have prepared and sent to the participating states a draft agenda covering five main areas. These include exchanging views on pressing regional and international issues related to peace, stability, and security; strengthening political and diplomatic interaction between Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan; developing cooperation in energy and sustainable transport-logistics corridors; environmental protection, climate change adaptation, joint measures for the efficient use of water resources, and coordinating efforts to restore the Aral Sea; as well as developing cultural, educational, and scientific ties, and expanding student and youth exchanges," Berdimuhamedov said.
