Azerbaijan changes customs duties on imported wine

Azerbaijan is changing customs duties on the import of several types of alcoholic beverages.

Operativ Media reports that by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, amendments have been made to the commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity, as well as import and export customs duty rates.

According to the amendment, a 15% customs duty will be applied to the import of certain categories of wine and other alcoholic beverages until December 31, 2030. However, the duty cannot be lower than a specified minimum amount per liter.

Specifically, the duty on certain wine products is set at 15% per liter, but not less than $3 USD.

For other alcoholic beverages, a customs duty of 15% per liter will apply, but not less than $2 USD.

For other specified categories of spirits, the duty will be calculated at 15% per liter, but not less than $4 USD.

Under the decision, the changes will remain in effect until December 31, 2030.

The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers will take effect 90 days after its publication.
