Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev attended several events on the first day of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Operativ Media reports that during a high-level discussion of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), Rafiyev welcomed Azerbaijan's membership in the organization and emphasized the importance of developing digital transformation and sustainability in parallel.

He also expressed concern over the rise of Islamophobia at a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Muslims in Europe. The deputy minister noted the importance of protecting religious freedoms, preventing incitement, and promoting mutual respect among societies.

At the presentation event of the COP31 Action Agenda, Rafiyev supported the initiative and stated Azerbaijan's readiness to cooperate with brotherly Turkey to achieve successful outcomes for COP31, which will be held in Antalya.

Additionally, attending the "Rising Nations Gala Dinner" organized by Palau, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Tuvalu, Rafiyev joined discussions on the urgent threats that rising sea levels pose to small island states.
