Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijanism is the Ideology Driving Us Forward
Our national and moral values, Azerbaijani values, are above everything else for us.
Operativ Media reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated this in his address to the nation from Khankendi on Victory Day.
The President noted that it is our national and moral values that drive Azerbaijan forward:
"The Azerbaijani state is built on this foundation. For centuries, we have kept these values in our hearts, protected them, and will hand them down to future generations as a sacred trust. The ideology of Azerbaijanism is the philosophy at the core of all our successes. Azerbaijanism is the philosophy that unites all our citizens. Azerbaijanism is the ideology that drives us forward. In Azerbaijan, all ethnic groups and representatives of all religions live as one family, and what unites us is citizenship, solidarity, and the ideology of Azerbaijanism. This is our national idea. I want to emphasize once again that this is the path to the future. I believe the socio-political stability, positive mood, spirit of construction, and the unity of our society around a single cause prevailing in Azerbaijan today are rare sights in today's world."
Ilham Aliyev stressed that on this wonderful holiday, he wished to once again highlight how great the Azerbaijani people are:
"Because only a great nation could demonstrate such willpower—despite suffering, despite 30 years of occupation, and despite threats from the major powers standing behind Armenia—and give me their support to secure our Victory. Celebrating this wonderful holiday, every one of us rightly feels a sense of pride. At the same time, we all respectfully honor the cherished memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives on this path. I am sure each of us tells ourselves: We must be so strong that no one would ever even dream of harming Azerbaijan again! I am confident it will be so. Today, Azerbaijan is a strong state—independent politically, economically, and militarily, relying on no one, conducting an independent policy, and acting with dignity."
