U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has established a special task force to prevent the transport of weapons across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea.

Operativ Media reports that CENTCOM announced the move on its X social media account.

The task force, named "Iron Gate" and created on November 7, will support U.S. government efforts to disrupt Iran's use of overland routes for transporting advanced weapons and other cargo.

Operating out of Florida, the group will work in coordination with other U.S. agencies. Its primary tasks include preventing the transport of weapon systems, dual-use technologies, and sanctioned materials across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea, as well as shutting down illicit revenue channels.
