Passenger and flight intensity is expected to increase at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in connection with the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2026 to be held in Baku.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport told Operativ Media about this.

It was reported that the airport will operate under an enhanced work regime from September 19 to 27 to ensure flexible management of the increased passenger flow, continuity of operational processes, and prompt organization of services. During this period, the activities of relevant structural units will be strengthened to ensure passenger comfort and service continuity.

The main race program of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place on September 24–26. Given the increased traffic flow and potential traffic restrictions in the capital during the race week, passengers are advised to plan their trips to the airport in advance and allow sufficient extra time for their flights.

To ensure a more comfortable and hassle-free trip, passengers are given the following recommendations:

• Arrive at the airport early: plan your trip allowing extra time to complete check-in, baggage drop-off, and security procedures on time.

• Use online check-in and self-service options: if provided by the airline, you can complete the check-in process faster by using online check-in, self check-in, and baggage drop-off services.

• Check flight information in advance: verify your flight status and departure terminal via your electronic ticket, the airline's official website, or other official channels.

• Use public transport: as an alternative to private vehicles, you can use the Aeroexpress public transport service operating between the "28 May" metro station and the airport.

• Observe parking rules: park vehicles only in designated parking areas, and use special drop-off/pick-up zones for dropping off and picking up passengers. The first 15 minutes of parking are free of charge. Parking payments can be made online through the "Tezode", "AzParking", and "Birbank" platforms.

• Apply in advance if special assistance is required: passengers with special needs are advised to contact the airline at least 48 hours before the flight to ensure the timely organization of necessary services.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport will take all necessary measures to safely and promptly manage the increased passenger and flight intensity during the Formula 1 period, ensure uninterrupted services, and provide a comfortable travel experience for passengers.
