US Military Strikes Iran's Qeshm Island
The U.S. military has launched a strike on Iran's Qeshm Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz.
Operativ Media reports, citing The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), that American officials disclosed this to the publication.
According to the officials, the United States has been conducting limited strikes on Iranian territory over the past few weeks. Some administration officials described the move as a defensive measure aimed at preventing potential attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
It was noted that Washington is deliberately withholding information about these operations to avoid giving the impression that it intends to resume large-scale military actions against Iran.
Qeshm Island houses an underground missile complex and a naval base. The area has previously been targeted by U.S. strikes.
Earlier, Iranian media also reported hearing explosions on Qeshm Island, adding that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had captured two U.S. reconnaissance drones and shot down one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
