FIFA Paid Infantino's Taxes in the US

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has paid approximately $4 million to cover the US tax liabilities of its president, Gianni Infantino.

Operativ Media reports, citing The New York Times.

The payment reportedly covers the period from 2024 to 2026, during which Infantino resided in Miami as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup. The FIFA president reached an agreement for the organization to cover these expenses.

According to the report, FIFA had a mechanism to compensate tax expenses for employees relocating to the United States to organize the World Cup. However, this benefit initially did not apply to elected officials, including the president.

In 2024, a subcommittee approved a decision allowing Infantino to benefit from this tax relief. However, that decision was not reflected in official documents.

As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will be the first tournament to feature 48 national teams.

The 56-year-old Gianni Infantino has led FIFA since February 2016 and was subsequently re-elected twice unopposed. The organization's next presidential election will take place in March 2027.
